WE WORK

WITH THE MOST ADVANCED
SYSTEMS FOR DESIGN

And preparation of dental prostheses

Prosthesis

We offer you the most advanced systems of the market, realized by milling technology that assure an ideal adjustment and a maximum permanence.

Sports mouthguards:

We have mouthguards that offer you plenty of style, protection, and comfort.

Hybrid prosthesis:

An alternative to the traditional fixed porcelain metal prosthesis is a hybrid restoration. This design uses a smaller metal structure, with artificial teeth and acrylic to join these elements.
This restoration is less expensive to manufacture and has a great aesthetic (prefabricated artificial teeth and pink replacement of soft tissues). In addition, interposed acrylic can reduce the impact force of dynamic occlusal loads.

Overdentures retained by implants:

An overdenture is a type of denture that is retained by implants, and has several advantages over normal dentures.
The overdentures can be retained by individual bars or pillars (balls or Locator). The differences are more in the abutments than in the prosthesis itself.
An upper denture is likely to require four implants, while a lower denture can hold between 2.3 or 4 implants depending on the degree of stability desired.

Prosthesis

The loss of teeth or molars can cause various types of alterations that undoubtedly will be greater the greater the number of pieces lost and the time that passes until their replacement. Next we will see in detail the most important alterations

At ICOA we work with the most advanced systems for the design and manufacture of dental prostheses.
Using computer systems we can make a virtual assembly (mock up) of the final result of your smile so you can decide if you like the design of your new look.
We offer the most advanced and aesthetic prosthetic systems on the market, made using precision milling technology that ensures optimal fit and maximum durability.
By taking digital printing we can offer maximum comfort and minimize the need for repetitions during the manufacture of prostheses.

Why do we have to replace the missing teeth?

Digestive disorders:

The mouth is the first part of the digestive tract and fulfills important functions that decisively influence correct digestion. When we eat, the food must be properly crushed by the teeth, especially by the molars, and mixed with the saliva, which contains a series of substances that initiate the process of digestion. If teeth are missing and this process of crushing and mixing is not carried out correctly, the food goes to the stomach under conditions that are not suitable for continuing with an adequate digestion, which in the long term may end up producing alterations of the same.

Alterations of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ):

The TMJ is the joint that connects the jaw with the skull, allowing us to perform movements of opening and closing the mouth, chewing, talking, etc.

So that the jaw is in a correct position, it is necessary that there are teeth and grinds both on the top and the bottom, and that these mesh correctly.

When teeth are missing, the position of the jaw is altered, which means that with normal movements the TMJ suffers, producing alterations that range from small noises when opening and closing the mouth to important pains or blockages with the mouth closed or open, which they need to be reduced.

When there is a correct gear between the teeth, there is a good position of the ATM.

Alterations of phonation (pronunciation):

The pronunciation of certain sounds, such as the letter C, is done by supporting the tongue on the teeth, in this case on the previous ones. Therefore, when teeth are missing, some sounds can not be correctly pronounced.

Aesthetic alterations:

Another important function of the teeth is the aesthetics. The appearance of a face, and even that of the person, may vary depending on the position of the teeth, their color or their size.

In addition, the teeth maintain the shape and tone of the muscles of the face, thus preventing the appearance of wrinkles that give an appearance of premature aging to the person.

The correct replacement of the lost pieces prevents the appearance of these wrinkles and maintains a much healthier appearance of the entire facial contour.

Replacement of dental pieces

The replacement of lost teeth can be done using a fixed or removable prosthesis.

The fixed prosthesis is one that can not be removed from the mouth by the patient. To realize a fixed prosthesis it is necessary that there are prosthesis pillars to support. These pillars may be pieces that are still in the mouth or implants.

To make a fixed prosthesis resting on pieces that are in the mouth, it is necessary to reduce the size of these to get a space that allows to place on them a “covers” to which the missing pieces will be welded. Implants avoid the need to carve any teeth and serve as a support in cases where there are no teeth left in the mouth.

Generally, the prosthesis rests on two or more pillars, since with mastication it will withstand great forces that would cause the bridge to “jump” if it is not properly attached to the pillars.

A fixed prosthesis can also be made by supporting dental implants that have been previously placed.

A removable prosthesis is one that the patient can take out of the mouth. This type of prosthesis is used when it is not possible to obtain sufficient pillars on which to support a fixed prosthesis.

Sports mouth guards

In ICOA we make sports mouthguards tailored so that you can practice sports without the danger of damaging your teeth.

Hybrid prostheses

The hybrid prosthesis presents the best quality-price ratio of all fixed complete restorations.

The hybrid prosthesis is easier to repair than porcelain, since the artificial tooth can be replaced with a lower risk than the addition of porcelain to a traditional restoration. However, the fatigue of the acrylic is greater than that of traditional prostheses and, thus, it is more likely that the restoration will have to be repaired. The hybrid prosthesis presents the best quality-price ratio of all fixed complete restorations.

Overdentures retained by implants

If you have false teeth and you have trouble keeping your position, dental implants are a great way to secure it in place. You will be able to eat, smile and speak with total naturalness.

Overdenture

Bottom overdenture

An overdenture is a type of denture that is retained by implants, and has several advantages over normal dentures:

  • The overdentures do not need glue or pads.
  • The bone loss is less, because the implants protect the jawbone.
  • Chewing and eating food is easier and many denture wearers who have a diet of soft foods can return to eating solid foods with the retention that the implants bring to the overdenture.
  • Speech problems due to slippage of the denture are resolved.

The overdentures can be retained by individual bars or pillars (balls or Locator). The differences are more in the abutments than the same prosthesis.
An upper denture is likely to require four implants, while a lower denture can hold between 2.3 or 4 implants depending on the degree of stability desired.
During the first consultation the dentist will answer any questions you may have.
How much does it cost to replace lost teeth by overdenture?
The price depends on the individual clinical situation presented by each patient. At ICOA, we offer the highest level of economic implantology. We never compromise the quality of the materials and our surgeons have a great postgraduate training and extensive experience in this specialty.
